The world

An island that is kind to people travelling alone

Nothing here is far from anything else. The trains are the best way to move and nobody minds a single seat. The long walks are safer and more sociable than their equivalents almost anywhere, and a traveller on their own spends less time managing logistics here than nearly anywhere in the region.

These are the ones that are better without a companion rather than merely possible without one — walks you set your own pace on, temples you can sit in for an hour, food you order by pointing.
