Sri Lanka welcomes tourists with an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) — applied for online before you fly. It currently covers a 30-day tourist stay, extendable in-country for longer trips, and dozens of nationalities enjoy fee-free or visa-free entry under the latest scheme. Approval usually lands within 24–72 hours, so apply once your flights are booked.
Entry rules and fees change — always confirm the current requirements for your nationality on the official Sri Lanka ETA portal before travelling.
You arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport near Negombo. Have your passport and ETA approval ready before you reach the immigration desks.
